Key Competency Model
Defining Expectations and Revealing Pathways to Better Performance

The Key Competency Model was a leadership initiative born from the company's 2020 Vision which served as a change management guide for the organization. The Vision was created based on employee feedback collected before and at the beginning of the pandemic.

The initiative was created to address the need for greater transparency. The KCM provided an explicit understanding of what successful performance looks like at every level, a path to more proactive succession planning, and highlighted the opportunity for additional training in communication and coaching (next on the roadmap of the change management plan.)

The KCP was developed by the Instructional Design team from scratch based on internal focus groups, c-level leaders, and best practices in leadership, organizational psychology, and communication research, starting with the Leadership Foundations.
From the foundations, behaviors were developed for each level of leadership throughout the company. Behaviors were broken down into levels of performance expected in each leadership category: self, others, teams, and organizations.
