JAY GOODRICH
About me
I have been in the world of training and adult education for my entire professional career. Past job descriptions have included coaching, managing, training, facilitating, supporting, onboarding, and creating or innovating operational procedures.

I am drawn to it because...
Training and development provides opportunities for growth. I love digging through the information and making the useful Aha! moments; the focus groups, SME notes, what generative AI thinks, design and subject matter the best practices ...and synthesizing all those worlds into something approachable, accessible, and engaging.
Stories and games are how humans learn and have fun.
Read that last sentence again though. Designing with aspects of fun, joy, humor, and delight is a passion of mine. I use this kind of creativity to teach with a fresh perspective, motivate teams, create online courses, facilitate group learning, and engage focus groups.
Let's make it good and fun so people want to use it - or at the very least not be annoyed with the education they have to do.

In my next corporate engagement, I want to be...
Onboarding new employees or clients into a service, program, or company I believe in. Teaching with gusto and charm about all the ways X, Y, and Z can help. Leading thoughtful discussions about cultural awareness. Deeply listening and watching to find the places we can streamline or re-organize to make a process better for everyone. Sharing resources and uplifting support systems. Leading teams to excellence while emphasizing work-life balance and forward-focused performance.

I enjoy building lasting relationships, puzzling through the muck to find optimal long-term solutions, using innovative technology that negates the need for sloppy bandaids, storytelling and motivating with the why, and learning, listening, and skill sharing. I gravitate toward work that helps people build relationships and creates systems of success.

Getting Personal
In 2023 I spent more than a month completing a 200-hour yoga teacher training program in Ioannina Greece an took some time to explore a few countries along the Mediterranean. I host private and small group classes occasionally, but the experience showed me how much yoga is an internal practice for me.

This spring, I got very into designing websites and I launched one to highlight my love for handcrafted ceramic vessels and jewelry. Find more of that at fickleflowerarts.com. Currently, it showcases a portfolio of projects, but there is potential to launch a shop as my shelves and bookcases are starting to get overwhelmed.
